About This Project
Trip Focus: Local Outreach and Ministry
India is a diverse multiethnic country that occupies the greater part of South Asia and is home to thousands of small ethnic and tribal groups. The Himalayas form the northern limit of India. India is the second most populous country in the world with over 1.2 billion people.
*Please Note - Of those 1.2 billion, approximently 90% are considered to be "unreached," with little to no exposure to the Gospel. As a result, it is a very spiritually dark country and in desperate need of the Light of Christ. Any volunteer wishing to travel to India should be prepared for the spiritual conditions there.
How do I sign up? Please indicate your desire be a part of this mission trip by “Applying Online.” Your application will be reviewed, and those under consideration will be invited to the initial meeting on January 28th. Selections for the team will occur after the initial meeting. If you are selected for the trip, you will then be asked to submit your $100 deposit to accept and secure your spot.
This team will serve in the following areas to minister to trafficked women and children:
Minister to women and children in the brothels of Calcutta
Serve in the rescued children’s home in Calcutta
Serve in the schools and homes for rescued boys and girls in Siliguri
Working with the children will involve picking up basic spoken English lessons, teaching Bible Stories, dance, drama, singing, etc.
Other serve opportunities may include:
Visiting Mother Teresa’s home in Calcutta
Working on the school building site in Siliguri
Ministering to a village in Nepal
Visiting a working tea Estate and factory in the city of Darjeeling in the Himalayas
*Payment deadlines must be met in order to participate in this trip. Church of the Highlands uses each payment to purchase airfare and other necessary trip expenses shortly following the posted deadlines. Therefore, payments are non-refundable, and failure to meet these deadlines will result in the removal of a team member and/or the cancellation of the trip.
